Green Jobs

PhotoPremier Community Builders recognize that sustainable development must meet the needs of local communities. Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine recently predicted that Austin will be the “Number One City for Business” over the next ten years. However, rapid economic growth alone does not guarantee safe, reliable, rewarding jobs. Premier Community Builders partner with Workers Defense Project and Austin Energy, to ensure that as we grow, we are building a better Austin for everyone.

Good for the Planet, Good for People
Premier Community Builders believe in both green building and green jobs. Austin Energy Green Building awards Premier Community Builders with an innovation point in their green building rating for their commitment to green jobs. Heidi Kasper, an official at Austin Energy writes:

“Sustainable development encompasses consideration of the environment, economics and society. While we often talk about green building in terms of recycled materials, energy- and water-efficient systems; green building also encompasses measures of social equity such as affordable housing, health and employment opportunities, and treatment of workers. In all these regards, how our buildings are constructed is an important component of sustainable development.”

Green Jobs, Safe Jobs
Premier Community Builders believe that education and training create opportunities for communities to uplift themselves. Premier Community Builders partner with Workers Defense Project to educate workers in both Spanish and English about safety concerns in order to prevent accidents and injuries on Premier Community Builder sites. Premier Community Builders also promote and endorse the upcoming Construction Career Institute, a skills training center for construction workers.
